Nahanni’s proven expertise in building health care facilities is applied south of the 60th parallel working on the Grand Prairie Care Center
Nahanni Construction was hired as the General Contractor and Construction Management firm to build a 120 bed continuing care facility in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Following the successful completion of the Territorial Dementia Facility in Yellowknife Nahanni was asked to participate in this project and apply their knowledge of dementia care facilities to ensure the construction of a safe and effective care facility.

This project is located in a heavily populated residential neighborhood and presented challenges to ensure the safety of residents and security of the project in the construction stage. Also the southern location of the project presented new opportunities for Nahanni to hire locally. A core group of Nahanni supervisors and managers headed up the project sourcing labour and skilled trades from Grande Prairie and nearby communities. Each new hire had to be trained in Nahanni’s safety procedures and brought into the culture of safety that Nahanni prides itself on. While these processes take considerable time and effort they pay off in the long term with less employees injured and less lost time on the job site.
