Nahanni Construction worked to construct a megadome about 25 km west of Rankin Inlet, NU. This all-weather, multi-purpose structure is a 60′ x 120′ steel covered frame covered with a vinyl, insulated roof so it can be heated during the cold winter months.

The Challenges

Nahanni installed the megadome amidst the kind of extreme cold and severe winter storms that come with working during the winter in Nunavut.

How We Helped

Despite working in challenging winter weather conditions, Nahanni Construction completed the project within two months. Our crew was also able to complete many other minor projects for the client, including digging out the site following each storm.

Interesting Facts

  • Five gold deposits have been identified in this area.
  • Underground exploration has started and the client is moving ahead with turning this find into a producing gold mine.
